The Lantern's Oath

A retro platformer set beneath the earth. Lanterne, twelfth of the thirteen knights, walks toward Rose. Two hits and the armour falls. Committed jumps, thrown light, treasure chests, and three bosses from the series.

Lanterne sleeps in the moss. Sign in with your Lost Garden account to wake him: the same account opens the member area, the episodes and the making-of.

The lantern is lighting…

What you will meet

  • The road of episode 1: the blue mushroom forest, the one-eyed machine over the ledges, the pilgrims' gong, the roots of the Source Tree, Serrure's tavern, then the Machine's arena and the gate.
  • Dodge roll (C or Shift) through an attack, variable jump height, coyote time and jump buffering: the controls answer like a modern game. At Serrure's, press Down with three lilies to gain a heart.
  • Reptilians rear up before clawing: jump back. Four glimmers and they fall. Glowing beetles crawl along the ground: throw low or stomp them. One in three leaves a light that mends the armour.
  • The one-eyed machine hovers, curls up, then slams down: climb a ledge, drop back and hit it while it lies stunned. The moss trembles before a root breaks through: never stand on it.
  • The masked pilgrims strike their gong and Serrure welcomes you under his roof: the armour is mended and the checkpoint is yours. The Machine stomps and fires a beam; at half health it calls the beetles. Twenty-eight glimmers bring it down.
  • Three hits and the armour sinks into the moss. It gets up at the last checkpoint. Six pale lilies are hidden along the road. Lanterne never speaks.
